Daly Male New Pop Up Store Now Open Oxford Street

it is said newton got its name by association with a retail store established on or near the site of the oxford hotel/tavern (eliza street) by john & eliza webster in 1832, called the new town stores. this then became a hotel Founded as the Daniel Webster in 1863 , the hotel had a name change to the Oxford Hotel in 1875. pictured at right - now the zanzi bar.

why is station street nowhere near the station? Newtown railway station was on the western side of the bridge when the rail line to parramatta opened. mary reibys house was on station street.
