it is said newton got its name by association with
a retail store established on or near the site of the oxford hotel/tavern (eliza
street) by john & eliza webster in 1832, called the new town stores.
this then became
a hotel Founded as the Daniel Webster in 1863 , the hotel had a name
change to the Oxford Hotel in 1875. pictured at right - now the zanzi bar.
